My Ideal Yatra in summer

Its summer again! But we started planning for our summer vacations quiet before it. This time we thought to visit the place nearby Mumbai, where we can reach faster and enjoy each moment of our vacations. I have lot of fascination of Konkan region, that’s why last year, we visited Anjurle , the beautiful place in Ratanagiri . This year again we decided to visit the south Maharashtra. And finally we planned to visit Revdanda, Alibaug.

Though our few friends were supposed to join us from Kerala, they arrived in Mumbai through Air India Airlines . As we wanted to have more fun, we took the unusual root of ferry. From Gate way of India we took ferry to reach Mandwa jetty. If we have to visit Elephanta then we have only option of ferry to reach there. But for Alibaug few take this ferry route. We started our ferry journey started by 7.45 a.m. sharp. The bus services from mandwa jetty to albaug are included in the ferry services itself. So it took us around 2and half hour to reach Alibaug via ferry. From Alibaug , our Revdanda resort was quite near.

The moment we got down from rick, we were welcomed with the sweet cool lemonade. The resort ws surrounded by lots of areca palm trees and coconut trees. The landlord of resort was staying nearby, he gave us lot of information about the nearby places.

There were around 12 temples nearby our resort in about 5 to 7 kms range. First day we visited the koliwada nearby our resort, where local people (koli) were engaged in dry fish farming. Those who don’t like dry fish may not like this place due to smell. But being a fish lover, we enjoyed roaming around kiliwada, watching anchored boats and ladies working in hot sun in dry fish farm.

Next day we visited various temple’s where the structure of temple’s, Dipamal (the structure in front of temple for diya lightening) , ponds in front of temple s, the greenery around the temple ….. Everything was so fascinating, we couldn’t stop taking lot of pics and off course selfies too. There is ancient monument which has been declared as national importance. We can assume by the broken parts that it is a shiv temple. But the nandi statue is in good condition.

Third day we went to fort which is close to seashore. Morning there was hide tide so we could see the roaring sea waves from the wall of fort. Then by afternoon low tide started and we could enjoy seashore. We walked on it, seen the design created by crabs on sand. The fort was looking amazing from the seashore.

The food was delicious. It was proper maharashtrian thali with dal- rice, chapatti , subji and salad. But being at Alibaug and no fish? Certainly we also enjoyed the fish curry and fry fish which was yummy and fantastic treat to our tummy.

We started our way back journey from Revadanda on third day afternoon. While coming we selected the option of car. In spite of traffic jam near Wadkhal naka, we were able to reach Mumbai within three and half hours. Since we were still in vacation mood as our friends from Kerala were with us. We enjoyed next five days with them in Mumbai.
